TAMPA, Fla. — Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt have always viewed Tampa as their home. Now, with the backing of HGTV, they're helping others design and build the house of their dreams.
"On the show, you see people viewing houses with Mika and get a sense of what they like and what they don't like, and then I bring in my team and we build the home of their dreams," said Brian Kleinschmidt.
Mika is the Realtor and Brian is the developer.
"I use to flip homes up in Nashville, back in 2007, '08, and '09, so (it was) like the worst time to do it. I lost everything. But I really believe that I needed to go through that then to appreciate this opportunity happening now," said Brian Kleinschmidt.
With a successful premiere episode under their belt, they're now shooting Season 1.
"It's tough!" said Mika McGee-Kleinschmidt. "We have tight deadlines on the show but we love seeing people happy in their home. Just because we're getting it done in 90 days doesn't mean we're cutting corners. It's got to go through the same inspection process as any other home."
Currently casting for the show, the Kleinschmidts are looking for builders, buyers, even landscapers to feature on the show.
The goal is to show the world what Tampa Bay has to offer.
"It's almost like the timing of the show and the great climate of the market here in Tampa Bay, it's amazing, it's like the stars are aligning," said Mika McGee-Kleinschmidt.
