Universal Orlando unveils first look at new "Dark Universe"

The new park will open in 2025, showcasing the monsters that originally brought Universal to life. In addition to rides, the park will have restaurants and eateries.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Timeless monsters will soon be providing scares to guests at Universal Orlando.

The resort recently unveiled new details about "Dark Universe," one of five immersive worlds featured in the park's all-new Universal Epic Universe attraction opening in 2025.

The mysterious new world will provide guests with "monstrous adventures" across different shops, restaurants and meet and greets, Universal Orlando officials said in a news release.

"Dark Universe" will blend different stories from Universal's classic brand of monsters, including Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankentsein's Monster, the Bride of Frankenstein and more, according to officials.

A new generation of characters will also be joining the mix, including Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, the great-great-grandaughter of Henry Frankenstein.

According to park officials, guests' journey into the "Dark Universe" begins with Darkmoor, an "electrifying portal" with dark energy. After they step inside, they'll reportedly be greeted with Frankenstein Manor, the "towering focal point" of the park.

In Darkoor, guests can get made up to look like their favorite monsters, take a trip through the woods on a family coaster, enjoy food from different "unique" establishments and enter Frankenstein's Manor to experience what Universal Orlando calls its most chilling ride ever, "Monster's Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment."

This state-of-the-art ride will take park guests deep into the catacombs of the manor where they'll have their first run-in with Dr. Victoria Frankenstein. When one of her experiments leads her to lose control of Dracula, she unleashes "a horde of enraged monsters." Guests will have to use their wits to evade the clutches of The Wolf Man, The Mummy, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and other classic monsters.

But, that's not all "Dark Universe" has to offer, according to officials. To learn more about the new world, visit Universal Orlando's official website.
