Though many of us will have food in excess on Thanksgiving, there are plenty of people in Tampa Bay who don’t have access to fresh, healthy meals. Food deserts are identified areas where residents don’t have a grocery store close by, or where many don’t have a car to drive and buy groceries. Feeding Tampa Bay and The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority launched their Mobile Food Pantry in July to help feed those in food deserts. The stops provide healthy food to those who need a hand up.
