We’re happy to announce Stewart Elementary in Manatee County as our 10News School of the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida.
This school is tucked away in a neighborhood in Bradenton, which might be just one reason this school has a family feel as soon as you walk on campus.
We heard more than one time, “once you’re part of the Stewart family, you’re always part of the family”.
The school has staff who don’t want to leave, former students who come back to teach, former students who return to help in the classroom of their former teachers and there are generations of students who attend. To them it’s more than a school. It’s a community.
This year the school is celebrating its 27th Annual Stewart Elementary Olympics. Each grade represents a different country. There’s an opening ceremony, a parade and a mile run.
Parents and grandparents come out to cheer their Stars on.
Throughout the day, students will compete in other athletic events, but the celebration is academic as well.
Leading up to the event, the students learn about their respective countries from geography to culture to history and one for the favorites-culinary.
The Stars shine brightly at Stewart Elementary in Bradenton. It’s just one reason they’re our 10News School of the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida.
