ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A lot of us are home from work and school, and it's no secret that the temperature keeps rising!
With both of these things happening at once, your energy bill is likely going to rise.
But, it's good to know that there are a few things you can do to save on that bill.
First, set your AC to comfortable setting, but remember the further your thermostat setting is from the temperature outside, the higher you energy bill will be.
Next, Change or clean out your air filters monthly.
Close your blinds! During the hottest parts of the day it can keep the sun's rays from heating your house.
Use fans in rooms that are occupied. They circulate air to supplement air conditioning.
Turn off unnecessary lights. Those lights emit heat and cause your air conditioning system to work harder.
Use a power strip for all your electronics so you can turn that off all at once when they aren't being used.
Finally, make sure you have your computer set to shut off or sleep automatically when you're not using it.
