ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Election Day is Tuesday. There are several races taking place. Below is a synopsis and links to where you can find more information about races in your area.
ST. PETERSBURG CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES
District 1:
Robert G. Blackmon is running against John M Hornbeck.
District 3:
Incumbent Ed Montanari is running against Orlando A. Acosta.
District 5:
Deborah Figgs-Sanders is running against Trenia L. Cox.
District 7:
Incumbent Lisa Wheeler-Bowman is running against Eritha "Akile" Cainion.
ST. PETERSBURG AMENDMENTS
Charter Amendment 1: St. Petersburg Clarifying Conservation Grant Language
A yes vote is a vote in favor of allowing City Council to accept grant funds from government agencies for parks and environmental conservation.
A no vote is a vote against allowing City Council to accept grant funds from government agencies for parks and environmental conservation
Charter Amendment 2: St. Petersburg Aligning Terms of City Council and Mayor Start Dates
A yes vote is a vote in favor of aligning the date the mayor takes office with regularly-scheduled city council meetings.
A no vote is a vote against aligning the date the mayor takes office with regularly-scheduled city council meetings.
Referendum Question: Authorize the St. Petersburg Yacht Club to Operate the St. Petersburg Sailing Center
A yes vote is a vote in favor of authorizing an agreement with the St. Petersburg Yacht Club to operate the St. Petersburg Sailing Center and fund a minimum of $800,000 in improvements.
A no vote is a vote against authorizing an agreement with the St. Petersburg Yacht Club to operate the St. Petersburg Sailing Center and fund a minimum of $800,000 in improvements.
Other races in Pinellas County include mayor and council member in Seminole.
There are also four amendment questions on the ballot in Seminole.
In Lakeland, there are three charter amendments and two City Commissioner positions to vote on.
Current Bradenton Beach Mayor John Chappie and Bradenton Beach Commissioners Jacob E. Spooner (Ward 1), Janet E. Vosburgh (Ward3) are all running unopposed.
Four people are in the running for commissioner in Holmes Beach.
Voters will elect a mayor in Venice and fill two City Council seats.
