It's a movie that inspired millions of people and touched many hearts.
While the movie Rudy, the 1993 film based on the story of a Notre Dame player Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, is more than 20 years old, it still has quite an impact.
We talked to the real Rudy about the movie and success and he told us he almost quit football.
"I almost quit, look what happens when you just don't quit. I think that's the first thing that went through my head."
In the final play of the game, Ruettiger sacks the quarterback. History was made and nearly 20 years later, a Hollywood hit.
"I always knew it was a good story I always knew that everyone dealt with same type of obstacles. Dealt with them differently. When I saw 'Rocky,' wow, I can put this story together," Rudy says. "So I started on this journey -- telling this story, and made it everyone's story instead of just my story. We used ND as the canvas and football as the metaphor."
A metaphor that's been watched by millions over the past 21 years..
Ruettiger says he even still watches the movie, and he got to pick some of the actors and was involved in some post production.
Now at age 66, Ruettiger does a lot of public speaking. And he says his strongest message:
"Everything you do I think you fail most of your life but from failure you learn a lot about your character and your commitment to your dream and the courage it takes to do it. ... So easy to quit."
The movie can be seen on Channel 10, WTSP, at 8 p.m. Saturday.
