Michael Whitty is new to Largo.
A transplant from Ohio, he thought this would be the perfect spot on the perfect night to practice his passion.

Little did he know he's not the first man to think to bring a bugle to this beach.
"People like what I do so I keep coming out."

Ken Deka is a regular at Indian Rocks Beach. Every night, every week everyone knows he'll be here.
"The minute they hear the horn, they stop."
To play for his buddies who aren't.
Deka made it home from service in Vietnam. Now he plays 24 notes every 24 hours one time for those who didn't.
Every note is for the ones who didn't. He plays for soldiers who didn't make it home.
A familiar thank you. Not even the wind and waves can compete with.
"It's one of those songs that makes you want to smile and cry at the same time and a lot of people do," says Deka.
