Sting and The Florida Orchestra to perform benefit concert in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sting is set to take the stage with The Florida Orchestra for a benefit concert, “An Intimate Evening with Sting and The Florida Orchestra: A Gala Concert.” 

The concert takes place at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 for the orchestra's subscribers and top donors. The general public can purchase tickets at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6. Prices range from $100-$750.

The Florida Orchestra is reinterpreting many fan favorites of Sting's, including: "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic," "Englishman In New York," "Fields of Gold," "Every Breath You Take" and many more.

In Sting’s distinguished career, the music icon has collected 17 Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, four Oscar nominations, a Tony nomination, Billboard Magazine’s Century Award and Kennedy Center Honors. 

In addition, he's sold 100 million albums worldwide from his work as a solo artist and as the former frontman of "The Police."

The rock and roll legend recently performed in Tampa Bay, where he and singer Billy Joel collaborated on a one-night-only performance in Raymond James Stadium.

The Florida Orchestra serves local communities with more than 150 concerts and music education and outreach programs throughout Tampa Bay each season, including a wide range of classical, popular and family-friendly music.
