LOS ANGELES — Miley Cyrus is now a Grammy Award winner.

The singer, songwriter and actress won her first Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for her song "Flowers." The legendary Mariah Carey presented her with the award.

"Oh my God, I just got stuck in the rain and traffic and thought I was going to miss this moment, and I could have missed the award, that's fine, but not Mariah Carey," Miley said during the beginning of her acceptance speech.

She performed the song live during the 66th Annual Grammy Awards all while paying tribute to the late Tina Turner. During her live performance, Cyrus addressed the crowd early and asked why it seemed as if no one knew the words. She ended it with an epic slam of the microphone stand.

When asked why she was performing at the Grammys, the singer replied she was doing it so she could lay in bed and watch herself perform at the Grammys on Feb 5.

In an interview that aired before the live performance, Cyrus explained the song's meaning and how happy it made her to see her fans dancing to it the same way she did when she wrote it. She also said she had only performed it live twice.

Later on in the night, Miley won her second Grammy for Record of the Year for "Flowers."

"The Party in the U.S.A." singer has been nominated for eight Grammys throughout her career.

She got her start from Disney, playing the role of "Hannah Montana," before scoring her first chart-topping album as a solo artist with "Breakout."
