(USA TODAY) Matt Bomer came out in 2012, but didn't mention that he was married.
But now the former White Collar actor, 36, casually dropped into a Details interview that he and partner Simon Halls, Hollywood publicity exec, have been married since 2011.
Not only that, but they have three sons together — an 8-year-old and a pair of 6-year-old twins.
As for his upcoming role in The Normal Heart on HBO (May 25, 9 p.m.), Bomer says the story shaped his life in a big way.
He first read it in 1992, as a high-school freshman. "At the time, I was clueless and obviously in a different place in relation to my sexuality," he says. "I was in romantic relationships with girls — whatever that means at 14. But I read it. And it completely rocked my world."
Bomer credits the play with helping him embrace his sexual orientation while still a teen and also with fostering a sense of social justice. "It's just such an amazing call to arms," he says.
