(USA TODAY) -- While hordes of folks are heading to Comic-Con in San Diego this week, another pop-culture convention is gearing up for a big event in the fall: Hello Kitty Con.
Yep, this year marks the first official Hello Kitty convention in the world, and it's happening in Los Angeles from Oct. 30 through Nov. 2. (Can you imagine what Halloween at HK Con is going to look like?)
The four-day event will feature panels, workshops, special guests, exhibits and lots of shopping, where attendees can get their hands on exclusive and vintage merchandise. Among the offerings is the poster seen here, available to attendees for $25.
The convention is timed to Hello Kitty's 40th anniversary, and it takes place at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (The Museum of Contemporary Art) in L.A.'s Little Tokyo neighborhood. The Line has already signed on to be the con's "official" hotel, offering Hello Kitty-themed rooms and even HK-themed dishes on the room-service menu.
