TAMPA, Fla. — Singer and rapper Childish Gambino has announced a new global tour that includes a stop at Amalie Arena in Tampa.
It comes as he released a new album called "Atavista." The album is a re-release of a previously unfinished album called "3.15.20" that Gambino had uploaded to his website and streaming services in 2020. That record was recently taken down. "Atavista" includes two new tracks that were not on the previous version of the album.
The last time Gambino went on tour was in 2019, following the release of the single and accompanying music video for "This Is America," which was widely discussed due to its commentary on ongoing issues of police brutality, prejudice and racial violence.
"Awaken, My Love!" was the last album Gambino released in 2016, which includes popular tracks like "Redbone."
Besides writing, producing and performing his music, Donald Glover is also known as a television and film writer, producer, creator and actor.
He is widely known for creating and starring in the critically-acclaimed TV show "Atlanta" which ended with its fourth season in 2022. He has also worked on projects like the satirical dark comedy miniseries "Swarm" released in 2023, and a reboot of the 2005 movie "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" produced as a series on Amazon Prime Video and debuted in 2024.
