Arsenio Hall at Tampa Improv, Pasco County Fair, Dachshund Derby: 10 things to do this weekend in Tampa Bay

Arsenio Hall at Tampa Improv

The legendary comedian and actor behind The Arsenio Hall Show and Coming to America gets back to his stand-up roots this weekend at the Tampa Improv. His sets are at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday. Tickets $25.

Florida Food & Brews Festival 2019

The England Brothers Park in Pinellas Park will be filled this weekend with more than 30 restaurant options, food trucks and plenty of craft beer and wine from around the state. There will also be live music, stand-up comedy, a ninja obstacle course, a food fight and dozens of local vendors and non-profit organizations. Admission is $15 at the gate. Kids 12 and under are free. Proceeds from beer and wine sales benefit CASA St. Petersburg.

St. Petersburg Fine Art Festival

The 6th annual art festival comes to South Straub Park again this weekend and with more than 130 artists from around Florida and the U.S. Browse pieces from collections of fine art and crafts, digital art, painting, jewelry, metalwork, sculpture, ceramics, glass, woodworking and more. Admission is free to the festival on Saturday and Sunday.

Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival

The two-day music festival brings tons of local seafood and live music to Coachman Park in Clearwater. Saturday’s lineup includes Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Fantastic Negrito and Vintage Trouble. Sunday’s lineup includes The Devon Allman Project featuring Duane Betts and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. General admission is free, but reserved seating and VIP tickets are available. St. Pete Punk Rock Flea Market

Planet Retro Records hosts a DIY indie flea market Saturday with independent sellers of musical instruments, books, music, vintage clothing, home decor and more. There will also be live music from local bands, DJs, vegan food and not-so-vegan food and drinks. The market is pet-friendly, and admission is free.

Planes, Trains, & Automobiles

Explore fields of planes, helicopters, remote-controlled planes, model trains, cars and law enforcement vehicles at the Plant City Airport. There will be free flights for kids, a kids play area, K-9 demonstrations, computer flight simulators and local vendors. Admission is free and parking is $5.

Southwest Florida Heritage Festival at Crowley Museum

Step back into Florida history with an immersive festival at the Crowley Museum & Nature Center. You’ll get to watch with the pioneer lifestyle and experience a quilting circle, butter churning, woodworking, hide tanning, blacksmithing, sugarcane pressing and more. There will also be live historic music and vendors of handcrafted goods. Admission and parking is $20 cash to get into the event all day.

Pasco County Fair

Miss the Florida State Fair already? The Pasco County Fair is still going strong this weekend. Sunday is the last day for midway rides, fair food, live entertainment and livestock shows.

Dachshund Derby

Come see dozens of short-legged dachshunds race to the finish at the 3rd annual Doxie Derby. There will be 48 “wiener racers” and 12 “wiener wannabe” racers. The event hosted by the Florida Wiener Dog Derby will have all registration proceeds benefit a local dachshund rescue. Post time is 3 p.m.  Free to watch the races.

Bay Area Renaissance Festival

The Renaissance Festival is getting romantic this weekend with a chocolate festival and wedding wars. There’s also a fencing competition. If you’re looking for a place to dress up in medieval attire and catch a joust, the lot next to MOSI is the place for you. The 16th-century European village is filled with live entertainment, contests and more than 100 crafters and vendors. 

Tickets are $21.95 at the gate. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends through March 31. Parking is free.
