"I like this guy," said a clean-shaven Colbert, pointing to Batiste.

(USA Today) The Stephen Colbert charm offensive continues.

This time, the incoming host of the Late Show is in New Orleans, where he introduced his new bandleader.

And that job goes to: Jon Batiste, a musician who's part of the band Stay Human, and has collaborated with Prince, Wynton Marsalis and Lenny Kravitz.

"I like this guy," said a clean-shaven Colbert, pointing to Batiste.

He follows in the longtime shades-wearing footsteps of Paul Shaffer, David Letterman's sidekick and music man. Over on NBC, Jimmy Fallon slow-jams the news with Questlove.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert premieres Sept. 8 on CBS.
