They call where I’m from the “Bold North” because of the cold. I guess I wasn’t bold enough because my journey has taken me here in Tampa Bay, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
But before that, I grew up swimming in beaches and sweating in the heat. I was born in the Philippines and immigrated just outside of Minneapolis when I was 9. From there, I graduated from the University of Minnesota and spent two years in Rochester, Minn., as a reporter and anchor.
There, I was privileged to have the Mayo Clinic in my backyard and share what world-renowned experts knew as we first made sense of the pandemic. It was also a privilege to report information that our community depended on from our state and local governments, and school districts.
I’m a proud son of a single mother who taught me the importance of looking after each other. That’s really what I hope to do when I tell stories, to serve you in some way.
