ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — I was born in Indian Head, Maryland, but I have lived in southern California, Wilmington, North Carolina, and New Bern, North Carolina.
I started forecasting as an intern at WWAY TV3 in Wilmington, NC. I got my first job at WCTI TV12 in New Bern, NC where I did mornings. I moved to Tampa and WTSP in January of 2009 Monday through Friday on The Morning Show. I've forecasted all types of weather over my career, spanning from snowstorms, severe weather and of course, hurricanes.
I have earned the CBM certification from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and am a Member at Large for the West Central Florida chapter of the AMS. I received an AP award for Best Weathercast and won a national award for Best Video from Weather Central. I am a member of the National Weather Association and visit many area schools each year.
I love to surf, snowboard, scuba dive, spearfish and just to be in the water. I am a very busy guy with a beautiful wife, a toddler-aged daughter and recently arrived twin boys! If I'm not changing diapers and am not in the water, you might find me on the golf course.
I love the weather, the people and the endless things to do in the Tampa Bay area. Summertime storms are my favorite as I enjoy watching the storms build each day and as bad as hurricanes can be, I do enjoy the forecasting struggles they present. I am a big Lightning and Rays fan and get to as many Bucs games as possible. Above all I love the water and the warm climate. I just wish we had a little more consistent surf!
