I was born in Washington, D.C., where my interest in weather started when I was just 4 years of age. I loved checking out stacks of library books on all kinds of weather and drawing my own weather maps.
My passion for weather stuck with me, and I have been a broadcast meteorologist for more than 25 years. I started in Gainesville, Florida, and then moved to Duluth, Minnesota, and shared the love of science when the state record low fell to -60!
I then warmed up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and got the Grand Strand through hurricanes. Then I became chief meteorologist in Lafayette, Indiana, and gained valuable experience covering every kind of weather you can imagine, including dozens of tornadoes. Then I got to move back to Florida in 2010 to be closer to family and was a meteorologist in Jacksonville, where I shared the most accurate forecasts that helped keep the community safe in severe weather and hurricanes.
I studied meteorology at Lyndon State College and received my weather certificate and NWA Seal from Mississippi State. I am a graduate of the University of North Florida with a degree in broadcast journalism.
The love of my life is my family. I have been married 27 years to my beautiful bride, Julie, and am a proud dad to three daughters. I love traveling to visit my daughter and son-in-law in London and my future son-in-law and daughter living in Missouri. Also, I am now a Tennessee Volunteer dad, so I look forward to some fun hikes with my daughter in the Smoky Mountains and, of course, going to watch some great SEC football!
I love all sports and play tennis and pickleball during my free time. I have also run 15 marathons, including finishing the Boston Marathon in April 2022. I love going to Tampa Bay Lightning games and have become a big Rays fan.
To be able to do the weather in a big cosmopolitan city like Tampa Bay is a dream come true. I cannot wait to explore all the great places it offers, including all the wonderful restaurants. I love sharing my love of weather and watching the big sea breeze collisions during our rainy season. You can depend on me during hurricane season to deliver an accurate and calm forecast so you can help protect yourself and your family.
Come rain or shine I will always find a way to help you seize the sunshine.
