ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — An area of high pressure has a tight grip on our region which means plenty of rain-free weather to enjoy moving towards the weekend.
The latest update to our drought monitor has abnormally dry conditions highlighted across south-central Florida including portions of Manatee, Sarasota, Polk and Hillsborough counties.
Friday the humidity remains low, with afternoon temperatures turning warmer-than-average with highs ranging from the mid-to-upper 80s. Because of this, it will not be unbearable like the summer months. Rain remains absent through the end of the forecast period; this could lead to an increased danger with fire weather so keep track of any dry brush or vegetation around your property as an extra precaution.
This weekend points to continued dry weather, with easterly winds turning breezy and even gusty at times which could lead to choppier water. Be on the lookout for rip currents and exercise caution if you plan to enjoy some time out on the water.
