Pedestrian killed in crash while loading bike onto PSTA bus on Gulf Blvd.

North and southbound lanes are shut down on Gulf Blvd. from 1st Ave. to 5th Ave.

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. -- Pinellas deputies are investigating a fatal crash involving a PSTA bus Monday afternoon.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the crash involving a PSTA bus and vehicle happened at Gulf Blvd. and 4th Ave. around 1:55 p.m. in Indian Rocks Beach.

According to PSTA officials, the pedestrian was killed while placing their bike onto the bike carrier of the bus. A vehicle reportedly lost control going the opposite direction and slammed into the front of the bus.

Pinellas County Sheriff is saying the PSTA driver is not at fault for the crash.

North and southbound lanes are shut down on Gulf Blvd. from 1st Ave. to 5th Ave.

Deputies are advising drivers to avoid the area. Deputies continue to investigate.
