Davenport man arrested after allegedly ramming SUV, FedEx truck in 2 road rage incidents

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the deputy heard tires squealing and saw a truck pushing against the passenger side of an SUV near the intersection of Ronald Reagan Parkway and Highway 27 in Davenport.

DAVENPORT, Fla. -- A Polk County deputy is being praised for deescalating a case of road rage Tuesday.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the deputy heard tires squealing and saw a truck pushing against the passenger side of an SUV near the intersection of Ronald Reagan Parkway and Highway 27 in Davenport.

The driver, 41-year-old Lance Lambert, allegedly started yelling at the deputy when he approached -- forcing the deputy to call for backup. Lambert was arrested. Deputies say they found Cannabis and unknown pills in his truck.

"We're glad no one was severely hurt in this case of road rage," Sheriff Grady Judd said. "Thankfully, our deputy heard the incident and quickly responded to get this man under control before he did hurt someone."

The SUV driver said Lambert was parked in the middle lane during a green light, and he stopped to ask if he was alright. He says Lambert told him yes but then started yelling and threatened to shoot him before ramming his truck into the SUV, according to law enforcement.

Deputies say Lambert also intentionally rammed a FedEx truck in the same area.

Lambert was treated for his injuries before being taken into custody. He has been booked into the Polk County Jail with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of cannabis, and resisting without violence.

Lambert has served prison time in Florida for previous charges of drug trafficking, DUI, and probation violation. He had been on inmate release status for a cocaine trafficking charge.
