VENICE, Fla. -- Police are investigating after a picnic table and a boardwalk in Venice caught fire.
Venice Fire Rescue responded to Service Club Park on Harbor Drive South to find a quarter-acre of the park engulfed in flames around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, March 4.
Police say there is a possibility that the fire was intentionally set since there is no electrical source in the area.
According to Venice Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael O’Connor, the fire was controlled and being mopped-up shortly after 5 a.m.
There is no walkway access to the park and the investigation is ongoing.
