LAKELAND, Fla. — A fire destroyed a warehouse Thursday in East Lakeland.
The blaze broke out just after 11 a.m.
The warehouse on South Combee Road is owned by insulation contractor Greenstar Panels. Responding Polk County Fire Rescue firefighters found the building already engulfed in flames.
Luckily, nobody was hurt; and firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading.
“We were able to confine the fire to the Greenstar property,” Fire Chief Robert Weech wrote in a statement. “No one was injured and we were able to protect the surrounding structures and businesses. That’s what our folks are trained to do and they did that well today.”
In total, more than 20 emergency units responded to the scene. They included support from the City of Auburndale.
The fire was under control within an hour. The cause is under investigation.
