One person is dead after a Bristell aircraft crashed at the Lakeland Linder Airport Saturday morning, according to the Lakeland Fire Department.
Officials identified the pilot as Gary Mansell, 64. of Plant City, Lakeland police said Mansell was a student pilot. Officials said he was doing touch-and-go landings, and on his third attempt, the plane crashed into the ground.
Fire officials said the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were notified and will be investigating.
Fire officials responded to the scene around 10 a.m.
