CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Haines City man who went missing while swimming with his family died on Friday night, Clearwater police said.
The 32-year-old man was swimming in the water off the beach area near the Courtney Campbell Causeway just before 5 p.m.
A Clearwater Fire & Rescue rapid diver found the man shortly after that. After being taken to Mease Countryside Hospital in critical condition, the man died about an hour later, according to a news release.
Police said he was having trouble in the water and was found about 30 yards offshore.
No other information was provided.
