PALM HARBOR, Fla. — An elderly man who was reported missing was found dead in a lake Friday evening in Palm Harbor, deputies say.
At around 7 p.m., authorities arrived at Lake St. George following a request from the Clearwater Police Department to help find a missing elderly man, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Deputies say Clouster Bryant, 85, was reported missing in Clearwater after he had left to go fishing but never returned home. He also visits Lake St. George often.
Law enforcement says they searched the north boat ramp of the lake and found Bryant's pickup truck. A small John Boat, which was laying on its side, was located on the south side of the lake.
As the search continued, the sheriff's office says they found the 85-year-old's body next to the boat. He was wearing a life jacket and fishing equipment was also found with his body.
Deputies say they did not notice any signs of recent damage to the boat and that Bryant's death is not criminal in nature.
The investigation of the incident remains ongoing.
