Woman found dead in partially submerged car in St. Petersburg

Investigators say the 33-year-old woman crashed her 2014 Volkswagen Passat through a fence and ended up in the Bayou Grande.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A woman was found dead inside a partially submerged car Tuesday morning, St. Petersburg police said.

Officers responded around 7:24 a.m. Tuesday near 62nd Avenue and Bayou Grande Northeast

According to investigators, 33-year-old Tabatha Hunter, crashed her 2014 Volkswagen Passat through a fence and ended up in the Bayou Grande.

Police say fire rescue and a dive team assisted in recovering Hunter's body from the car. 

The car has since been removed from the bayou. This investigation is ongoing.
