TAMPA, Fla. — Multiple people's homes were damaged after a fire broke out overnight Tuesday at a Tampa apartment complex, fire rescue crews say.
Around 2 a.m. Tuesday, multiple 911 calls came in to dispatchers reporting heavy smoke coming from an apartment complex on W. Sligh Avenue, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews said. According to Google Maps, the apartments are at the Egypt Lake Beach Club Condo.
When crews arrived, they said they saw "significant" smoke and flames coming from the three-story building. Within 20 minutes, the fire was put out, crews said.
Three apartment units were damaged as a result of the fire. Fire Rescue crews did not mention the level of damage. Photos released by the agency only show one apartment that appears significantly damaged. The photo appears to show a fireplace that has been destroyed by fire. Charred wood extends upward to the ceiling, where beams are now exposed.

Several other photos from outside the apartment complex appear to show a chimney that was damaged by fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No one was hurt in the fire, but fire crews say two cats are unaccounted for. The Red Cross has been called to help those affected by the fire.
