Multiple RVs catch fire at Tampa-area dealership

There were no occupants inside the RVs at the time of the fire, officials said.

DOVER, Fla. — Multiple recreational vehicles caught fire and were destroyed early Wednesday morning at a dealership just off Interstate 4.

Drivers on the interstate caught the smoke and flames around 3:30 a.m. at the Blue Compass RV store on McIntosh Road, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. One of them was a state fire marshal, who made the call to 911, spokesperson Rob Herrin said.

Once at the scene, firefighters reported four fifth-wheel-style RVs on fire, with three of them fully engulfed in flames. Officials said crews were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes.
