DOVER, Fla. — Multiple recreational vehicles caught fire and were destroyed early Wednesday morning at a dealership just off Interstate 4.
Drivers on the interstate caught the smoke and flames around 3:30 a.m. at the Blue Compass RV store on McIntosh Road, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. One of them was a state fire marshal, who made the call to 911, spokesperson Rob Herrin said.
Once at the scene, firefighters reported four fifth-wheel-style RVs on fire, with three of them fully engulfed in flames. Officials said crews were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes.
A total of six units were affected by fire or smoke damage, the spokesperson said.
There were no occupants inside the RVs at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and efforts are ongoing to figure out what happened.
