PLANT CITY, Fla. — Multiple animals that were inside a burning home Tuesday afternoon in Plant City are safe thanks to the help of the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

At 12:15 p.m., officials received calls regarding a fire on the front porch of a home on Kebs Lane, the agency said in a news release.

Firefighters say the people who lived there were out of the home, but several pets were still stuck inside.

Crews reportedly determined that heavy smoke and fire were coming from the front of the home and began to extend a hose line into the house. In less than eight minutes, firefighters were able to put the fire out.

HCFR says crews went inside the home to make sure no other person was inside. They ultimately saved two dogs, two cats and one guinea pig that were stuck in the house. However, one other cat is still unaccounted for.

Officials say there were no injuries to people or crews at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
