HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — Two people are safe after their plane lost power and crashed off Pine Island Drive in Hernando County.
After losing power, the two occupants tried to land the plane before striking a palm tree, nearly severing it in half, Hernando County Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post.
Both safely got out by themselves and suffered only minor injuries, authorities said. In the meantime, fire rescue and hazmat crews are also handling a 30-gallon fuel spill from the crash.
