A former state lawmaker took his own life by jumping off a Dale Mabry Highway overpass, according to officials.
Witnesses say they saw former Rep. Robert Wallace jump from the overpass on Gunn Highway on Monday, our news partners at The Tampa Bay Times reported. His body was found by first responders.
The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office listed the manner of death as suicide, the Times said.
Wallace represented northwest Hillsborough and northern Pinellas counties from 1994 until he was term-limited out in 2002.
The medical examiner's report also noted Wallace had suffered from depression for several years and was taking medications commonly used for mood disorders.
