Pasco County officials have evacuated homes after a depression formed under a home.
The reported depression is in the 7400 block of Barclay Road in New Port Richey.
We’re told it’s about 8 feet deep and 8 feet wide and can’t be called a sinkhole just yet even though Pasco Fire Rescue says it has several indications of one.
A neighboring homeowner refused to evacuate, saying he believes its some type of piping issue.
And while people living within 50 feet of the home were given voluntary evacuation notices, only one neighbor has headed the warnings. All the others are staying.
Neighbor Mildred Carr said, “I walked around my home. I checked for holes and cracks and its fine. I’ve been here 20 years.”
“You always worry about it, because you live in this part of the country and you hear about them everywhere," said neighbor Diana Manley. "So it’s always concerning.”
Crews will check on the hole again Friday to see if it is grown. Any findings will be reported to state officials.
