CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. — A pilot died after a small plane crash Tuesday evening near Fort Island Trail Park in Crystal River, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.
In a preliminary report, the Federal Aviation Administration said a twin-engine Beechcraft B55 Baron crashed near Fort Island Trail Park around 5:45 p.m. Only the pilot was on board, according to the agency.
Investigators have not yet released information on the pilot's identity.
The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation into the crash and will release updates as they become available.
