TAMPA, Fla. - A Hillsborough County Fire Rescue firefighter remained in serious condition Wednesday after falling out of a fire truck Tuesday afternoon.
Steven Dowd, 46, was the right front passenger of an engine leaving Station 28 on Sun City Center Boulevard at about 5:30 p.m. when he fell out the truck and onto the roadway, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Dowd was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"As far as we know there was no criminal activity involved in this," Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokesperson Eric Seidel said Tuesday. "This was strictly an accident."
