CLEARWATER, Fla. - A firefighter suffered a minor hand injury during a house fire at 1515 Lake Ave., Clearwater Fire and Rescue said.
It was not immediately known what caused the fire, which resulted in significant damage to the single-family home.
The occupants were out of the residence when firefighters arrived, the department said.
"Extra crews were called in to fight the blaze because of the intensity of the fire, in addition to the high heat and humidity taking its toll on firefighters," the department said.
Multiple pets were rescued, including lizards, snakes and another cat who was treated on scene with a oxygen mask, but a cat died, the department said.
