ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Petersburg police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash on Monday morning involving a pedestrian.
An Infiniti car hit Phelexis Robinson at about 12:18 a.m. ET Monday at 34th Avenue South and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, police said. Authorities said Robinson, 26, died at the scene.
St. Petersburg spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez said the Infiniti was reported stolen out of Hillsborough County. The car was found a few blocks from the scene on 37th Avenue South.
Several people ran from the Infiniti, according to Fernandez.
Robinson had been driving a Lincoln when it apparently broke down, police said. Investigators believe Robinson had gotten out of the car and was in the roadway nearby when the Infiniti hit her.
