A green-haired, sword-wielding man confronted West Melbourne police at an apartment complex Wednesday.
Police said Geoffrey Crane, who lives in the Grand Oaks at the Lakes Apartments on the north side of U.S 192 east of John Rodes Boulevard, had threatened his mother with a pair of samurai swords.
That's when she called 911.
Officers arrived and found Crane, 24, still had the swords and refused to drop them, according to the affidavit. When he threw one of the swords at the police, an officer fired a Taser stun gun at Crane to subdue him.
Paramedics took Crane to a hospital before he was taken to the Brevard County Jail. A blood-alcohol content test showed a result of .36 for Crane. That would have been more than four times the legal limit in the state for driving. Crane was also prohibited from using alcohol because he was on probation for a driving under the influence conviction.
Crane was charged with aggravated assault domestic violence, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence and a probation violation.
He remained at the Brevard County Jail Friday in lieu of $17,000 bail.
