FBI arrests 'armed and dangerous' bank robbery suspect in Lakeland

Myron William Ernst, 60, was caught by members of the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force, Lakeland police, Polk County deputies and Florida state troopers.

A man suspected of multiple bank robberies in Florida and Alabama was arrested Thursday in Lakeland, the FBI said.

Myron William Ernst, 60, was caught by members of the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force, Lakeland police, Polk County deputies and Florida state troopers.

He was driving a truck he allegedly stole from a South Carolina dealership before his robbery spree began, the FBI said.

A warrant for Ernst's arrest was issued for Oct. 31 after he was accused of robbing Lakeland's TD Bank on Oct. 12.

Officials believe Ernst robbed several banks throughout central and north Florida and Alabama, including a Fifth Third Bank branch in Orlando on Thursday morning.
