Couple transforms RV into insta-worthy camper home

The Higginbotham family loves hosting and turned their passion into a budding business.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Higginbothams enjoy hosting friends and family. They love it so much they decided to start their own business, Teal Door Hosting, to do just that. They assist property owners by connecting travelers with an ideal host home.

A popular listing is The Green Stream: a renovated 1974 Airstream Sovereign that the couple found in St. Pete.

"It cost around $4,000 and it was just a dirty shell, we ended up having to gut this and remodel it all," Jared Higginbotham said.

The 31-square-foot camper comfortably sleeps two people with a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.

"The decor and the design was a big focus. It's a huge thing for millennials, especially when they come in and this is something you would see in a magazine or scrolling through your own feed," Olivia Higginbotham said.

With modern decor and surrounded by greenery, the Green Stream is a hit. It has hosted more than 50 guests in a four-month time frame.

"I traveled a lot serving our country and I remember my experiences from the dozens of places I stayed. I take all of that into consideration with our own hosting" Higginbotham said.

As home-sharing continues to grow, so will the demand for creative and comfortable rentals.
